Attached is a self-explanatory flyer together with the nomination form for the WRFU Grounds Person of the Season 2024/2025.

This message may appear to be a little bit early but receiving it now will give you some time to fully consider those who look after your grounds and pitches.

The Facilities Group have, once again, teamed up with ‘Fleet’ the line marking suppliers to reward the county's grounds persons. Although we are only a few weeks into the season with the grounds teams have already had to deal with exceptionally wet weather during September. Those people looking after your pitch(s) work very hard year-round and especially in season to ensure matches are on. Grounds Persons should be recognised by their clubs and given the appreciation they deserve.

The award acknowledges the considerable contribution of these unsung heroes, who work in all weathers, as volunteers, to make sure that hundreds of matches can take place on the best achievable standard of playing surface with a very limited budget.
From last season we have tweaked the rules slightly for nomination to include 'lifetime achievement’ nominees also, you don’t have to be a Fleet customer or the club doesn’t mark its own pitches or even someone not at your club.
We would ask you to nominate your grounds person and submit to the Facilities Group on the nomination form and return it to me between 1st & 15th January 2025. I will, of course, send out a reminder nearer the time.

At last seasons awards each and every nominee was acknowledged with the overall winner being Ed Monk of Keresley RFC (pictured).

It is hoped that all nominees will be invited to attend an end-of-season presentation, details of which will be shared in due course.
