Matt’s playing career was based at the Old Leamingtonians Rugby Club for over 20 years starting in the Junior Section, playing Colts rugby and mainly 3rd/4th XV Senior Rugby. Where for a time he captained the 3rd XV and fulfilled the role of Match Secretary.

Following a number of playing injuries he became Secretary at South Warwickshire Rugby Football Union, where he successfully ran the Harold Stilwell Tournament, Bob Jones Veterans Tournament and the representative sides at U17’s, U19’s & Seniors.

In terms of involvement with County Rugby he has held a number of positions including Inter-District Secretary, Warwickshire Colts Secretary & Treasurer, South Warwickshire Clubs Representative, Warwickshire U20’s Team Manager for 10 seasons and President of Warwickshire 2019 to 2021. From 2010 to 2020 Matt was involved with Divisional Rugby as the Midlands Counties U20’s Secretary.

Professionally he is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor working as Head of Commercial for VIVO Defence Services, with an active role with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as Chairperson for the Assessment of Professional Competence.
