Warwickshire hold 6 Competitions in total each season,
3 each for the 1st XV and the 2nd XVs,
Competitions are seeded so that Clubs will not play opposition more than 1 league higher than themselves, taking into account player safety and well-being and encouraging Clubs to take part, against fair competition, having the opportunity to hopefully pick up some silverware
The Competitions usually start in August and run throughout the season to the Finals, which are played on neutral grounds, with Clubs playing within the Competition Rules that are issued and reviewed each season. Entry forms are sent out and the Competitions Committee meet over the summer to do the draws for all the Competitions, then meet several times over the season to review how these are going and to look at appropriate venues for the Finals and hear any “Appeals” from Clubs
Due to the current COVID pandemic there will not be any formal Warwickshire Competitions this season, however the Competitions Committee are looking at possibly holding some kind of informal Competition in April or May, that can also possibly be played midweek, that will be simple and fair, providing some kind of competitive rugby before the season closes and giving the players something to look forward to.
This will be totally optional to enter however, due to RFU and Government guidelines may not even go ahead, but as a Committee we feel it would be useful to at least have a plan in place just in case! We will keep you updated !
